How to Make Your Facebook Likes Private

Liking a post, a video, or a page on Facebook has become a personal expression or even a statement whether it is a shop, a sports team, a restaurant, recipes, tutorials, trivia, videos, or groups. Almost anything and everything. And I'm pretty sure that someone is liking it on Facebook and they're probably being judged and raising eyebrows for it.

Whatever you click a LIKE button at, you can decide to make it PUBLIC and leave it like that for everyone to see or you can go PRIVATE and keep all your likes to yourself. And eventually, prevent questions and silent judgment from people around you.

What are the Types of Facebook Likes

There are at least 16 types of likes on Facebook namely: Movies, Television, Music, Books, Restaurants, Athletes, Inspirational People, Sports Teams, Games, Activities, Interests, Sports, Foods, Clothing, Websites, and Other.

You can choose who can see what you like per category or type. Let's say, you can show or hide the athletes or sports teams you liked or maybe the movies you liked but you cannot hide or show a single individual like that you made. It's all or nothing. Now, you decide, is it a Go or a NO Go?

How to Make Your Likes Private

It's an easy-peasy thing to do to keep everything you like on Facebook to yourself; just go through these steps using your laptop or desktop computer (the mobile app is not supported yet).

1. Once logged in to Facebook, go to your profile page.

2. Then on the rightmost side of your profile page, just below your cover photo, hover your mouse on More then select Likes

3. Right next to ADD LIKES, click on the pencil icon or Manage

4. Click EDIT THE PRIVACY OF YOUR LIKES from the menu

5. Click the downward triangle next to whatever icon there is parallel to the Like Category that you wish to make private.

6. Select the level of privacy you want for the like visibility of that category. You have 5 choices which include Public, Friends, Friends except for acquaintances, Only Me, and Custom. If you want to hide your likes from everyone but yourself, choose ONLY ME (That's mostly what I have on mine, LOL!)

7. Click CLOSE and you are done.

You can pick different restrictions or levels of privacy for each of the 16 categories but unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, you can't hide or show your individual pages.

Now you can like whatever interests you without the prying eyes of the people around you.
